Winemaking Equipment

Al-Jac's offers winemaking equipment and supplies for any size and purpose.

WINEMAKING EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES

Crushers and Destemmers

Used to separate the grapes from the stems and crush the grapes for winemaking. The destemming process ensures that only the fruit is crushed, resulting in smoother, more palatable wine.

Wine Presses

Used in winemaking to extract the juice from grapes. They apply pressure to the crushed grapes, separating the juice from the skins and seeds. The extracted juice typically goes into fermentation tubs where it is then prepared to make wine through the fermentation process.

Fermentation Tubs

Used to ferment grape juice into wine, they provide a controlled environment for the fermentation process, allowing the yeast to convert the sugars in the grape juice into alcohol. The tubs are designed to be easy to clean and maintain, and they come in various sizes to accommodate different batch sizes of wine production.

Wine Barrels

Used for aging wine, the wood from the barrel imparts certain flavors and characteristics to the wine, contributing to its complexity and taste. Additionally, the porous nature of the wood allows for a small amount of oxygen to interact with the wine, which can help soften tannins and enhance the overall flavor profile of the wine as it ages.

Demijohns

Large, narrow-necked glass containers, typically encased in wickerwork, used for fermenting and storing wine. They provide an ideal environment for fermentation and aging, and the glass construction allows for easy monitoring of the contents.

Carboys

Large, clear, cylindrical containers typically made of glass or plastic used for fermenting, aging, and storing wine. Used with the air lock, it provides a sealed environment preventing oxidation and contamination. These clear containers allow winemakers to monitor the wine's progress and clarity and come in various sizes to accommodate different batch volumes of wine.

Wine Bottles

The design of wine bottles, with their distinct shapes and colors, contributes to the aesthetic appeal of the wine, making them an important part of the overall wine experience. Additionally, wine bottles help protect the wine from external factors such as light exposure and temperature fluctuations, preserving its quality and taste.

Corks and Corkers

Corks are typically made from cork oak used with a corker to create an airtight seal on the wine bottle. A corker device is used to compress the cork and pushes it into the bottle, ensuring an airtight fit.

Air Lock

A wine airlock is a device used in winemaking and brewing to allow carbon dioxide gas to escape from a fermentation vessel while preventing air and other contaminants from entering maintaining a sterile environment during the fermentation process and preventing oxidation or spoilage of the wine.

Wine Testing Supplies

Wine testing supplies include equipment designed to evaluate the nuances of different wines, their appearance aroma, and flavor, and identify the flavor profile of different types of wine.

Winemaking is a blend of science & art, of fact & faith.
